177 Huntington Avenue
Built in 1973 as part of Boston’s iconic Christian Science Plaza and converted to a home for several technology firms, the 26-story office tower at 177 Huntington Avenue needed a refresh. An enhanced lobby and public spaces, as well as new tenant amenities revitalize the modernist landmark.
To create visual interest and further engage with tenants, NBBJ and ESI Design collaborated to design a media installation that visually interprets changing weather conditions, the seasons and ripples on the reflecting pool outside on the plaza. A new cafe and expanded seating in the lobby allows tenants to socialize, meet with clients and collaborate informally—in keeping with more contemporary ways of working.
Features
In the elevator bay, high-resolution, 22-feet-by-6-inch LEDs extend to the ceiling, displaying information about the neighborhood, local events, weather and the stock market.
