Sanofi Headquarters (DivcoWest)
To benefit from the creative capital that urban locations provide, NBBJ worked with DivcoWest to develop a commercial office building for global pharmaceutical company Sanofi. Rising from the heart of Cambridge Crossing, an emerging urban district that transforms a former rail yard into a “city within a city,” the project creates a cutting-edge home for innovative discovery. It also serves as a landmark gateway to the development, with welcoming pedestrian entrances.
To consolidate its dispersed offices into a single urban headquarters, the design creates a collaborative, centralized research hub that positions the life sciences organization as an industry leader. Overlooking a five-acre green space, the office building features a dynamic glass and metal exterior that establishes a distinct and inviting presence to passersby. Shifted to create a landscaped public plaza and drive daylight deep inside, the building prioritizes placemaking and human-oriented spaces.
Features
Inspired by the city’s undulating skyline, the exterior creates a striking, sparkling pattern that is also efficient. Showcasing a glass podium below and office tower above, the facade unites these diverse elements while lending a distinct energy to the building with alternating vertical bands of glass and metal. In addition, solar shading fins help keep the building cool.
