As one of the world’s most ambitious carbon reduction projects, Microsoft’s Thermal Energy Center features 875 geowells drilled 550 feet underground to heat and cool Microsoft’s campus. Featured in Urban Land Institute’s Urban Land magazine story of the world’s top 10 most innovative geothermal energy projects, the Thermal Energy Center is anticipated to achieve a 50% reduction in energy consumption compared to a typical utility plant.
