Met Park at Amazon's Arlington Headquarters
Amidst a new era of hybrid work, how can the next-generation office draw employees together? At Amazon's Met Park, NBBJ employed an interior design strategy focused on building engagement, amplifying access to nature and encouraging employees to discover the spaces that best suit their unique work rhythms.
At the heart of Met Park are multiple floors of dynamic, connective space across two buildings that create a welcoming entry to Amazon’s workplace. Reeded glass, cozy furniture sprinkled with restorative green plants, dynamic environmental graphics—including a feature wall that celebrates employees' dogs—and welcoming giant steps unite through natural materials, warm textures and curved forms. Staff can find comfy niches to brainstorm, host an informal meeting or mentor a colleague. Each space is imbued with historic references to the region’s flora and fauna, while celebrating the culture and ethos of Amazon.
Features
To welcome employees, the project creates a seamless indoor-outdoor feel, hosting a variety of calming green plants, soft bench seating filled with planter beds and dynamic, playful environmental graphics that honor Amazon’s pup-friendly culture.
