LSU Comprehensive and Strategic Master Plan
Baton Rouge, LA
Facing modest growth and funding projections over the next decade, Louisiana State University embarked on a comprehensive and strategic campus master plan to more efficiently create an engaging student experience. NBBJ used advanced planning tools to help the university utilize space more efficiently, reach out to the surrounding community and secure a sustainable future.
To make the best use of existing campus space, the plan co-locates departments and programs where possible, prioritizes underused space, and creates a new, active academic spine where analysis revealed most student activity is concentrated. The team also used design computation and VR tools to enable more effective space planning and immersive stakeholder feedback, while creating a resilient stormwater management strategy.
Features
Design computation tools improved decision-making by linking data sets to a 3D campus model that quickly shows how planning decisions affect physical space.
