Google Seattle Office
Serendipity and discovery in the workplace often lead to the best ideas. Google’s Seattle office incorporates quiet oases, exciting amenities and dynamic public spaces to provide Googlers with opportunities for diverse work modes, personal choice and chance encounters. As one employee told the design team in the planning stage, “It’s the interstitial space where the magic happens.”
Google’s Seattle space transforms two separate buildings linked by bridges into a seamless single floor plate organized around a central lightwell. Dynamic social areas on raised platforms surround the lightwell, while diverse and uniquely programmed amenity spaces located on the north and south perimeter edges alternate direction every other floor to provide sweeping views of both Seattle's urban skyline and the scenic Lake Union shoreline. Individual workspaces line the perimeter of the building, taking advantage of the natural light and proximity to amenity spaces. A continually shifting connected stair weaves through the center of the space, offering opportunities for casual connections and Googler interactions.
Features
A variety of home-like focused work areas are integrated throughout the office, with booths near windows, cozy lounges, a library and private seating niches, to provide staff with comfortable, diverse spaces and a feeling of personal agency to find the place that works best for them.
