Charoen Pokphand Medical Center
Bangkok, Thailand
The design and execution of healthcare facilities is a complex process, requiring the alignment of numerous disparate groups including regulatory agencies, stakeholders, project teams and decision-makers. For the Charoen Pokphand Medical Center in Bangkok, Thailand, NBBJ helped a major Thai conglomerate build a highly collaborative international team comprised of over 100 international stakeholders and consultants using participatory workshops.
NBBJ led rigorous participatory project workshops with over 100 attendees from all partners and consultants that brought alignment and buy-in from all members of the project team—who had no prior experience working together, and the client—who had never built a hospital. The resulting medical center brings world-class, patient-centered healthcare and innovative medical research to Bangkok through a “harmonious, nourishing ecosystem” where place, culture, technology and medicine come together to nourish life through health and wellness.
Features
Predicated on the concept of “Healing Terraces,” the hospital’s design in inspired by the beautiful topographic qualities of Thailand, with a soft, fluid and organic architectural expression that seamlessly blends building and nature.
