600 Bellevue – Phase 2
Bellevue, WA
Sustainability is an increasingly important factor in the design of corporate buildings—however, the idea that environmentally focused design eschews comfort in the interest of energy savings remains pervasive in the market. This net-zero carbon tower meets Amazon’s aggressive conservation goals and responds to the desire for a human-centered workplace without compromising quality or experience.
To reduce operational carbon, the building form and envelope work together to minimize solar heat gain and maximize daylight harvesting, while significant portions of the podium enclosure replace traditional aluminum and steel with exposed wood, reducing embodied carbon for those systems by 96 percent. The project is also situated to encourage public transportation and mobility, with space for a protected bike lane, and a publicly accessible garden that allows car-free access to the entire site.
