The AIA Recognizes Two NBBJ Projects with Healthcare Design Awards
Two NBBJ projects win AIA Healthcare Design Awards. The UCSF Connie Frank Transplant Center, which receives an award in the built category, renovates the 7th floor of a Brutalist building with a flowing design inspired by San Francisco’s rolling waves of fog, with sweeping curves and comfortable spaces for patients, organ donors and staff. Montage Health Ohana Campus, which takes home an award in the unbuilt category, rethinks the sterile environments typical of behavioral health facilities, embracing nature throughout via terraced gardens with immune-boosting lavender and rosemary, calming low-carbon materials like cross laminated timber and organic, curved shapes.
