SCMP + Dezeen: NBBJ Completes Nature-Infused School for Neurodiverse Students
Learning differences affect one in five children. Yet most educational environments are not designed to intentionally accommodate neurodiverse students. Enter the Lower School Campus of Westmark School, which infuses nature, a simplified color palette and noise-dampening design features. Designed around a sycamore tree at its heart, the school’s inviting courtyard, deep roof overhangs, pine cross-laminated timber and outdoor play spaces bring warmth, choice and agency to its young students.
