Fast Company and Interior Design: Green Space, Views and Mass Timber—Ohana Campus Heals Rather Than Isolates Kids
Providing hope, healing and resilience, the Montage Health Ohana Campus for Behavioral Health creates a restorative environment for children and teens. Nestled in the hills of Monterey, CA, Fast Company calls Ohana “an amber-toned jewel box that oozes calm.” The building—a curved mass timber structure with floor-to-ceiling windows, stepped courtyards, and access to greenery and natural light—aims to change the way a building can help treat behavioral health issues. Featured in Interior Design as well, the magazine speaks with NBBJ’s Jonathan Ward on how the design intertwines the power of beauty and nature. “Entering the lobby, the view extends back out to the world, across the awe-inspiring valley, to the possibilities of what life can be through the healing process.”
