As a Leader, Creative, at NBBJ’s New York experience design studio, ESI Design, Emily helms the studio’s media environments projects, where she leads teams to thoughtfully design ways to activate a space and tell a company’s story through highlighting their brand, mission, and unique culture. A member of the core team that runs day-to-day operations of the NBBJ studio, she is responsible for leading the studio’s creative strategy and ensuring design excellence.
Emily is a design leader who oversees creative teams and works with the most senior client stakeholders to ensure that projects are achieving the big picture aspirations. From business development to project installation, Emily brings a strategic approach to the creative strategy, design and implementation of interactive technologies that help clients create engaging, immersive, and meaningful experiences to elevate their brand in the marketplace. She views buildings as platforms that can adapt over time as the needs of the space or the business change.
She has a keen sense of the latest technologies and how to apply them to evidence our clients’ innovation. Emily joined NBBJ in 2020 through its acquisition of ESI Design, where she previously held the title of Senior Vice President, Creative. She has led numerous award-winning and iconic projects, including eBay Main Street, the Statue of Liberty Museum, and The Beacon at the Tower at PNC Plaza. A sought-after thought leader in her field, she has presented at such high-profile conferences as Digital Signage Expo and FastCo Innovation Festival. Emily applies her education in architecture and training as a dancer to think about how people move through space. She earned a degree in architecture and a master’s from NYU’s Interactive Telecommunications Program. Previously, she worked for WET Design, photographer David LaChapelle, the Independent Film Channel, and artist Jim Campbell.
