Principal I Firmwide Science and Education Practice Leader
Darius Umrigar has more than 30 years’ experience spanning science, education, healthcare and workplace sectors. As a science and higher education director, he operates as a trained architect and lead consultant, steering consultant teams from bid through design, planning, procurement and delivery of complex projects for key clients in the UK.
Through strategic vision and design excellence, supported by robust technical knowledge, he leads projects with innovative thinking and sensitive, human-centred solutions that align with his clients’ vision and goals. He is currently working on several science projects including a major new research, teaching and learning centre for the University of Oxford. In creating a world-class centre for Life and Mind Sciences, this will be the university’s largest building project to date. Additional clients include commercial science developers and other progressive institutions including BGI Genomics and Queen Mary University London. Darius’s projects are frequently published in global digital and print outlets, including Architect’s Journal, Building Design and the Financial Times.
