New Enterprise Associates
As one of the world’s largest venture capital firms, New Enterprise Associates (NEA) needed its first New York-based office to cater to a largely transient and diverse group, while still providing a comfortable home base. The resulting design is equally welcoming to employees, guests and leaders from NEA-funded start-ups, and encourages collaboration, boundary-pushing initiatives and the development of new ideas.
The jewel-like suite can flex to accommodate meetings and events with investors and entrepreneurs, with residential-inspired furniture and decor that supports all types of work, from formal board meetings and brainstorming sessions to informal get-togethers and heads-down focus. Although the space was not initially imagined as a permanent location for many staff, it has become a magnet for employees, providing potential for a larger presence in New York than originally anticipated.
Features
The NEA space needed to perform well acoustically to support confidentiality and focus. A felt pane hangs over the main gathering area to soften acoustics, and in offices and meeting rooms, the ceiling is treated to absorb ambient noise. The glass wall system was selected for acoustical performance, and even the light switches and outlets are wrapped to prevent sound leaks and maintain privacy.
