Deco the
Halls

When R.C. Hedreen Company relocated to a 1927 Art Deco landmark building in downtown Seattle, NBBJ helped them transition from a small, traditional office to a large, daylit environment that offered enhanced functionality and sophistication.

R.C. Hedreen develops, owns, and manages high-end investment properties — luxury hotels, retail, high-rise office buildings, and residential developments — so they needed an office that would reflect their reputation for sophisticated construction.

The design takes advantage of the building’s historical context by ordering the private offices and collaborative areas around the original, exposed-concrete columns. The clean, crisp lighting design reveals and highlights the architectural elements and materials, and creates a visual focus on the significant contemporary art collection displayed within the space.
