Dalian, a Northeast China city with more than six million residents, occupies a peninsula with a major seaport, water views to the north, and a verdant mountain backdrop to the south. In planning Eton Place, NBBJ designers sought to draw this natural setting into the heart of downtown.

The mixed-use project includes Tower 1, containing Class A offices, two hotels, and an observation deck and skylobbies; Tower 2, containing the SOHO program; three 150-meter-high residential towers; and a podium housing a retail, entertainment and convention center.

A large public park atop the podium brings nature into the heart of the site, a green “canyon” amidst the surrounding high-rises. Public areas — sky lobbies, green space, meeting areas, observation decks and other communal zones — are spread throughout the project on varying levels, to create a lively, active development.
