“Very tall residential high rises began growing in popularity 10 to 15 years ago,” says Tim Johnson, NBBJ partner and chairman of the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat. As urban populations continue to grow, developers are looking to maximize prime real estate in cities, and in many cases, the best way is to build up. And while many of these skyscrapers will still be office spaces, the percentage of these dedicated to luxury residences is higher than it's ever been.
